What this site is

TestPrepGuides.com is a free, independent test-prep site. Each of the 25 exams here gets a plain-English guide to how the test works right now and a practice test that mirrors the real format, with an explanation for every answer.

You donโ€™t need an account, and nothing is locked behind a paywall. Your practice-test progress is saved in your own browser, not on our servers.

Not affiliated with any test maker. The organizations that write and administer these exams (College Board, ACT, ETS, GMAC, LSAC, AAMC, NCSBN, USCIS and the others) donโ€™t review, sponsor or endorse this site. Test names are trademarks of their respective owners.

How the guides are made

Facts about each test (format, question counts, timing, fees, dates, scoring rules and recent changes) are researched from the test makerโ€™s own published materials first. Every guide lists its sources at the bottom, so you can check them yourself.

Every guide shows a last verified date: the day its facts were last checked against those sources. Tests change, so for anything that affects your registration or test day, confirm it on the official site too.

When a detail canโ€™t be confirmed from an official source, the guide leaves it out or tells you where to check. It doesnโ€™t guess.

How the practice questions are made

The practice questions are original. Theyโ€™re written to mirror each examโ€™s official format, question types, difficulty mix and content areas, but they arenโ€™t copied or paraphrased from official tests or commercial prep books. The one exception is the U.S. citizenship test: USCIS publishes its civics questions, and this site reproduces that official list.

Each question is checked twice before it goes live: once by the person who writes it, who solves it before saving, and again in a separate review that re-solves it without the answer key and compares the results. Every question also has an explanation that says why the right answer is right and why the tempting wrong answer isnโ€™t.

Practice tests report your percent correct by section and content area. They donโ€™t invent scaled scores or predict your official score, because official score conversions vary from one test form to the next.

How the site makes money

The site is free because some pages earn affiliate commissions. On book and review-course pages, links to Amazon are affiliate links: if you buy through one, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Commissions donโ€™t decide the recommendations. Book picks are based on publisher-listed contents, how closely a book matches the current official format and whether itโ€™s the current edition, and the test makerโ€™s own official materials come first when they exist. The picks are not based on hands-on testing of every book, and no placement is paid for.

Corrections

If something looks wrong, say so. Every practice question has a Report a problem link that opens the contact form with that questionโ€™s ID already filled in, and you can report anything else on the site through the same form.

Reports are checked against the official source. When something is wrong, it gets fixed.
